City Council Cracks Down On Lazy Criminals

(BDN) LEAGUE CITY, TX--Citing the growing popularity of cell phones equipped with cameras, city council members passed a series of laws designed to protect the citizens of League City from lazy, largely ineffective criminals.

"With the passage of these laws, no longer will people have to worry about small, blurry photos of themselves being instantly uploaded to the internet," said Councilman David Harrison. "Without these laws there is a real danger of blotches of colored pixels resembling you being viewed on the blog of an opportunistic camera phone voyeur."

Harrison added that some of these blogs are viewed up to "three or four times per week".

The new laws make no mention of high-speed film cameras, a telephoto lens, flatbed scanners, Kinko's, a digital camera connected to a laptop with a WiFi connection to the Internet and other technology that allows images to be captured and sent to the Internet.

"We want to send a message that we simply won't tolerate lazy criminals," Harrison explained. "You're already holding your phone to make a phone call - how much more effort does it take to snap a picture of some hot person's ass? Then with a few more clicks it is on the Internet - where is the effort? Where is the investment in high-end, expensive equiment? We are quite alarmed by the lack of pride in a job well done exhibited by this new breed of criminal."

The laws have outraged a vocal handful of mobloggers. At a recent city council hearing on the new laws, several people using camera phones to blog the proceedings were arrested and charged with "excessive meta-ness", a class 2 felony.

"Convenience will not be tolerated in this town," Harrison added.
